Free To A Good Home Puppies

Free Puppies To A Good Home

Do you know what happens to some pets that are posted in “Free To Good Home” ads? Too many times than not after the pet is adopted it is neglected, abandoned, abused, starved and sadly even sold for animal experimentation. Believe it or not this happens thousands of times per day!

People that place free to good homes ads for their pets do not realize the consequences of their innocent intent of finding a new home for their pet. They certainly are thinking that their pet will end up in good hands and have a better life but sadly so many times that is not the case. They are misguided and it could lead their pet into a tragic situation.

Even charging an adoption fee of $50 or more can deter the abusers because people tend not to value things that are free.  A free pet is a disposable pet.

What can you do to help you may ask? Contact the person that is placing the ad and educate them. Let them know that there are no kill shelters and rescues that are willing to take in their pet and find them a good home. Encourage them to charge an adoption fee. You can potentially be saving an animals life!

Naperville Pet Walkathon

Naperville Pet Walkathon Helps Support “Making Strides For Strays”

It is time to put on your walking shoes, round up your family and friends, grab fido and his leash and head out to support the Animals Deserving Of Proper Treatment.

The annual pet walkathon sponsored by A. D. O. P. T will be held in beautiful downtown Naperville Il on Sunday May 4th at 8:30 AM. Registration begins at 7:30 AM. The starting point for this 5 k walk is the 5′th Avenue Station on 200 E. Fifth Avenue and the course will take you through the downtown Naperville shopping district and their scenic River Walk. Many local shops will have special sales just for this event. Don’t worry you don’t have to stay home just because you don’t have a dog, and there are many shortcuts so you do not have to complete the whole course. There will be entertainment, snacks, rest stops and watering spots for dogs and humans alike along the way, vans will be circling the route to pick you up if you get tired.

We attended last years event with our 2 long hair dachshunds, they met many new friends and so did we. Animal lovers are such a nice breed aren’t they? Especially when they are banded together for such a great cause.

This is A. D. O. P. T.’s 15th and largest fund raiser so please support this years theme “Making Strides For Strays” by making a pledge for this worthy cause that goes towards helping animals and their pet rescue shelter. While there is no registration fee, participants are asked to obtain pledges-per-kilometer or a set donation. Set a goal and ask friends, family, and co-workers to help you achieve it! Check into a matching pledge programs with your employer or a local business.

Our sponsor this year is Waggs N Wet Noses Pet Sitters of Naperville, a loving pet sitting service for local residents.

The Naperville carpet cleaning service at All Natural Services will also be our sponsors this year, for pet stains on carpeting they are the professionals. Thanks Jon!

All pledge-getters turning in $100 or more will receive this year’s specially designed, “Making’ Strides for Strays” T-shirt. They would love everyone to get a Walkathon T-shirt and wear it during the walk. The top pledge-getter will be honored with his/her/their name added to the “Makin’ Strides for Strays” Plaque mounted in the lobby of A.D.O.P.T.’s Animal Shelter.

All donations raised from their biggest human and canine social and fundraising event will be used toward the veterinary and special needs of the animals in A.D.O.P.T.’s care as well as the overall operation of their Animal Shelter. For more information about this pet walkathon in Naperville Illinois please contact Sandy at 847-458-6366 or visit the Animals Deserving Of Proper Treatment website below.

Please consider giving up pork, would you eat your dog? Please read on to find out why we are asking you to give up eating these adorable animals.

Most people rarely have the opportunity to interact with these outgoing, sensitive animals because 97 percent of pigs in United States today are raised on factory farms as food animals. These pigs spend their entire lives in cramped, filthy warehouses, under constant stress from the intense confinement and denied everything that is natural to them. Click HERE To watch a movie about their pitiful existence on farms just so they can make us a pork chop sandwich, a slab of ribs or a BLT.

Considered smarter than 3-year-old human children, pigs are very clever animals. They are smarter than dogs and every bit as friendly, loyal, and affectionate.

Since most people are not that familiar with pigs, you may be surprised to learn that they dream, recognize their names, play video games more effectively than some primates, and lead social lives of a complexity previously observed only in primates.

People who run animal sanctuaries often describe pigs with human characteristics, because they’ve learned that, like humans beings, Pigs also enjoy listening to music, playing with toys, and getting massages.

The average American meat-eater is responsible for the abuse and deaths of approximately 31 pigs and most all of those pigs are the subject of animal cruelty on the farm

I hope you can learn to love these cute little creatures just as much as me and leave them in the yard and off the table.

Fur Is Not Fashion

Fur Is Not Fashion

Hey Everyone!

I am sure alot of you are in to fashion trends, the latest styles, hottest shoes, handbags and designers. I know I have a tendency to get caught up in it. I did want to make everyone aware of some of the sad atrocities designers are doing to our helpless animals, all for the sake of fashion.

Did you know that Gucci sells boots made of seal fur. Gucci is responsible for the horrors of the Canadian seal hunt that have repeatedly been documented on video. Check out more on peta.org.

Burberry still sells fur.

Christian Lacroix directly funds people who skin, bludgeon, strangle, and electrocute animals for a living for their fur.

Valentino directly funds people who skin, bludgeon, strangle, and electrocute animals for a living for their fur.

Uggs are animal skin.

Alexander McQueen uses fox heads and bird skulls on his runway models.

The list can go on and on. Unfortunately because many people believe fashion is more important than the life of animals, these designers will continue to capitalize on the lives of them. Please read your labels, get to know your designers and their styles and don’t think that there are not trendy designers out there that do not use animals. Check out Stella McCartney, Juicy Couture, Prada (be cautious though), Ann Taylor, Ralph Lauren, Kenneth Cole and JCrew to name a few. I hope you can forsake fur for the sake of fashion.

You can also check out http://www.peta.org/living/clothingguide.asp for Peta’s cruelty free clothing guide.

Thanks everyone and have a great weekend!

Stop Animal Cruelty 1 Blog At A Time

I donate this post to all of the wonderful bloggers that have helped our mission of getting the word out about animal cruelty, animal rights and helping all animals worldwide, pets and strays includes.

There are many great bloggers that devote either their whole blog or a post or 2 to helping animals, and I’m sure that I have forgotten a few, so please just add a comment and I’ll make sure I include you. Some of the way people have helped is as simple as a high five, a blog comment or a quick note letting us know they appreciated us being here writing about animal cruelty and the little jokes we throw in to add a smile to your face. Don’t forget you can use the Share This button below each post to either send to a friend or bookmark on a social book mark sites like Digg, or Stumble etc.

First I want to thank the gang at the Bloggeries Blog Forum, without the support of Rob and his followers of pro bloggers and newbies alike I would not have gained the knowledge of blog design, plugins and the like. Our blog review from his site was one of the main things that was instrumental in getting the initial blog link juice flowing to help us get found for keywords like “Stop Animal Cruelty” and the like. The rest of the gang there like Paul and the Educator are always happy to help out a fellow blogger when they get stuck on something or to offer alternative opinions. Besides all that, Bloggeries is a great place for bloggers to hang out and learn new tricks to the trade with Wordpress.

Quirky Jessi was one of the first bloggers that was nice enough to introduce our animal cruelty blog to her hundreds of loyal readers just waiting to see what cute and quirky blog topic she was going to write about next. I’m glad she picked AnimalsNeedHelp.com!

One of the first people we met on Entrecard has her own blog about living healthy and keeping meat off the table was The Groovy Vegetarian she added us to her blogroll so people could find us easier.

INDogs has a dog blog with many good stories about the rescue and rehabilitation of mans best friend, INdogs by the way are one of the oldest dog breeds in the world.

Pet Rescue Central nominated us for the Excellent Pet Blog Award, thanks Pet Rescuer! keep up the great work spreading information on all animals including adoption and pet rescue.

Therapy Home has some good movies on animal cruelty on their site, I suggest you check out those and the ones on the PETA TV media center.

Another friend of ours in the crusade against cruelty is Catnip Corner and their blog about 3 cats.

Kay’s K9’s and her miniature pet creations blog even awarded us the “You Make My Day” award on her blog. Thanks Kay, your work on miniature wool pets astonishes us!

The Blog Reviewer gave us all thumbs up and helped us get some great backlinks at the same time.

There are many great individual blog articles out there to help remind us just how dear animals are to our heart, like this one from a Beauty Blog Fur, I’d rather be naked. or even from a Cleveland Real Estate Agent on why you should not buy a puppy mill puppy. Their whole blog is not devoted to animal rights but they take the time to support PETA and that’s very nice of them.

One of our best blog reviews was from the Writing Angel where she writes about all sorts  of fascinating topics and decided to do a whole post about Animals Need Help.  She also writes on The Never Ending Writing blog that I’ll be sure to keep my eye on.

Well, it is getting late and I can still think of dozens of other great blogs that I have ran across in the past. I realize now I should have started a drop list of those favorite blogs of mine that have helped make our job a little easier in spreading our love of animals and trying to keep them safe and living cruelty free.

If you are a blogger for animal cruelty please let us know…
