Walkathons and other organized events are by far the best way to organize the pet cause. People who are pet owners generally have a lot of love to give and wouldn’t limit it to just their own animals. Charity and fund raising events that are based around animal needs and that cater specifically to pet owners are probably (or could be) the mainstay of revenue generators for causes like humane pet population control, owner education, etc… Great event, and I’ll consider organizing my own!

A great way to help the animals is to volunteer at the A.D.O.P.T. pet shelter in Naperville! Please consider giving an hour or two each week to help us care for the many homeless animals at the shelter. Help us find forever homes for the approximately 45 dogs and 100 cats at the shelter. I was working at the Walkathon this year at one of the vendor booths (The Sudzy Puppy Dog Grooming by Heather and Self-Service Dog Wash) and it was so much fun. I brought a bunch of ones to put in the “donation dogs” and wanted to take home every single dog that I saw. All of these animals are really spectacular and truly deserve a good home!
